Missouri Home AppraisalThe Missouri Real Estate Commission regulates real estate appraisal services in Kansas City, St. Louis and all locations in the state. The three types of real estate appraisal licenses are State License, Certified Residential, and Certified General. For federally related transactions, State Licensed appraisers can perform residential appraisals with a transaction value less than $1,000,000; non-residential property must be appraised by a certified appraiser. State License Home Appraisers must complete a minimum of 90 hours of real estate appraisal education, accomplish a minimum of 2,000 hours of real estate appraisal experience while working with a licensed or certified real estate appraiser. Certified Residential Home Appraisers must complete a minimum of 120 hours of real estate appraisal education, complete a minimum of 2,500 hours of real estate appraisal experience, over at least 24 continuous months, while working with a licensed or certified real estate appraiser. Certified General Home Appraisers must study at least 180 hours of real estate appraisal education, pass the Certified General examination, and work a minimum of 3,000 hours of real estate appraisal activity, within a 30 month period. They must do this while working with a licensed or certified real estate appraiser. At least 1,500 hours of this experience must be the appraisal of non-residential properties.
