Home Appraisal ChicagoHome appraisal licensing for Chicago home appraisal professionals is administered and regulated by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation division. Licensed appraisers must meet federal and state licensing guidelines. The office has created three classifications for real estate appraisers: Certified Residential Real Estate Appraisers, Certified General Real Estate Appraisers or Associate Real Estate Appraisers. The latter requires no actual appraisal experience. The first two types however have these requirements in education and appraisal experience: Certified General Real Estate Appraisers rank have have accomplished 3000 hours of appraisal experience within a 30 months period. 1,500 hours of that experience must be in non-residential appraisal work. Certified Residential Real Estate Appraisers require 2,500 hours of appraisal experience during a 2 year period.
